How to apply to the programme

Applications for the 2017/18 student cohort open on Monday 17 October 2016 and close on Thursday 2 February 2017.


General entry requirements

All students must meet our entry requirements.

We are looking for candidates who have (or who expected to be awarded), at least a good 2:1 honours degree or its international equivalent in a relevant subject.  Typically candidates will already have a good understanding of the field they propose to study, and at least some hands-on research experience.

Please note that this is a basic science programme and applicants who are carrying out medical or veterinary training are not eligible to apply. 

All non-UK candidates whose first language is not English must provide a certificate of proficiency in the English Language


To apply to the programme

  1. Complete online form to register contact details

  2. Submit the following documents as a single pdf document.  

  • Completed application form - download form (word file)
  • Standard CV
  • Academic transcript of their current degree course (and any previous degree-level courses if applicable) giving examination grades obtained (which should be submitted in English if possible)

Please send your application by email to wt-hpgh@ed.ac.ukApplications incorrectly submitted cannot be accepted. 

All applications must be received by 12 pm on Thursday 2 February 2017.


References

All applicants should give the names of two academic referees on their application form.  It is the applicant's responsibility to contact each of their referees and ask them to complete and submit the referee form which will be available on this website.

The referee forms should be returned in pdf format directly by the referees by email to wt-hpgh@ed.ac.uk.


Interviews

Successful candidates selected for interview who are based in the UK or Europe will be expected to travel to Edinburgh in mid-March 2017 (dates to be confirmed).   Candidates based further away may be interviewed by Skype.  All candidates that are short-listed must be interviewed.
