Good luck and bon voyage to the MacDonald lab (Institute of Immunology and Infection Research)

We wish bon voyage to Andrew MacDonald and his lab who are leaving the Institute of Immunology and Infection Research, Kings Buildings at the end of May 2013.

Andrew is relocating to the University of Manchester to be part of the new Manchester Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research (MCCIR; http://www.mccir.ls.manchester.ac.uk/).

Andrew has spent much of his research life here in Edinburgh.  He carried out his PhD with Judi Allen and Rick Maizels, and after postdoctoral work in the US at Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, he returned to Edinburgh in 2003 as an MRC Career Development Fellow, becoming an MRC Senior Fellow in 2008.  Work in his lab has focussed on the function of dendritic cells in the immune response, and in particular in their activity upon infection with the parasitic helminth Schistosoma mansonii.

Edinburgh Infectious Diseases will miss the MacDonald lab but we wish them all good fortune in Manchester!
