Longitude Prize Informal Workshop

  • Event:  Longitude Prize Informal Workshop on Antimicrobial Resistance
  • When:  Monday 1 September 2014
  • Time:  10.30 - 1 pm
  • Location:  Room 1.08 Waddington Building, Kings Buildings

The Longitude Prize for 2014 was awarded to Antibiotics - specifically for innovative diagnostic methods that will help tackle the increase in antibiotic resistance (http://www.nesta.org.uk/blog/longitude-prize-2014-we-want-hear-your-thoughts).   This is obviously a very difficult challenge, and one that will require multidisciplinary approaches to address it.

To help researchers in Edinburgh develop their novel ideas, Edinburgh Infectious Diseases  and Edinburgh Research and Innovation are organising an informal workshop to be held on Monday 1 September 2014 at Kings Buildings, 10.30 - 1 pm.

Anyone with an interest in this subject - from medicine and biology through to chemistry and engineering is most welcome to attend, and we would be delighted if you would like to join us.

The format will be very informal, but we hope that everyone who attends would be willing to give a brief (3-5 min, no slides!) description of their research, how they might address the challenge, and what type of collaborators they might be looking for.  The attendees will then have ample opportunity to discuss and develop ideas, and feedback their conclusions.

Everyone is welcome to attend.  Please email Hilary Snaith (hilary.snaith@ed.ac.uk) if you are planning to come.
