Summer placements at Leiden University Medical Centre for University of Edinburgh students
Edinburgh Infectious Diseases will support two students to undertake summer projects in Leiden University Medical Center in summer 2017. This is the continuation of a very successful collaboration between the two institutions which has been running for the past three years.

Projects in parasitology and medical microbiology
University of Edinburgh undergraduate students who are in the third year of their studies and are intending to pursue an honours programme focussed on infectious diseases are eligible to apply for the two funded studentships to work in the Netherlands for 2 months.
Projects are available in parasitology and microbiology on 6 - 8 week placements.
The students will be expected to take up the placement during July and August 2017 and will each be awarded a £1600 stipend, plus return Edinburgh-Amsterdam airfare on a budget airline (e.g. easyjet). We will liaise with colleagues in the Netherlands to help find suitable accommodation for your stay.
Students taking the following third year courses are eligible to apply for the Leiden Summer Projects. Priority will be given to those students intending to pursue infectious disease-focussed Honours programmes.

- Clinical Immunology and Haematology 3A
- Clinical Immunology and Haematology 3B
How to apply
Your applications should include
- A CV, with details of your grades in all exams taken at the University of Edinburgh, the courses you are intending to take in your third year, and the title of the Honours Programme on which you are currently registered
- A statement explaining your interest in infectious diseases research and why you would like to work in Leiden (max 500 words)
