SciFUN Roadshows at Kings Buildings and George Square

  • Tuesday 15 January 2013 - Kings Buildings
  • Thursday 17 January 2013 - Informatics Forum, George Square

The SCI-FUN Roadshow is looking for enthusiastic scientists, at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, to assist with the delivery of our activities in the early part of 2013.

SCI-FUN is a public engagement scheme, funded by the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, which takes the experience of a science centre to school and public audiences across Scotland. To get a sense of what the project is all about, please see our video at the following link:

In 2012/13, we are focused on engaging S1 and S2 pupils with our range of 40 hands-on exhibits that cover a number of scientific concepts. We will also participate in a small number of public science festivals in the local area.

For us to be able to carry out our plans effectively, we require additional casual workers who are able to join the team for the odd day here and there in early 2013. Tasks include assisting our audiences with the exhibits as well as helping to set everything up and packing everything away. To find out more about what a day with the Roadshow will involve, please have a look at the information here:

As a casual worker, you will earn £30 per day that you assist us.

If you would like to indicate your interest in joining our team, or you would like further information, please email Stuart Dunbar at scifun@ed.ac.uk.

Alternatively, if you would like to have a taste of the Roadshow for yourself and to have a chat to find out more, we will be setting up some of our activities in the following spaces:

  • Between the new Noreen and Kenneth Murray Library and KB Centre buildings, King's Buildings, Tuesday 15 January, 11 am - 3 pm
  • Ground floor (room G.07) of the Informatics Forum, near George Square, Thursday 17 January, 11 am - 3 pm

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

The SCI-FUN / FUSION team
