  • When:  Afternoon, Tuesday 23 June 2015
  • Location:  Ashworth Laboratories, Kings Buildings

On Tuesday 23 June, the Centre for Immunity, Infection and Evolution at the Ashworth Laboratories, Kings Buildings, is hosting two senior visitors from Merck's new Global Health R&D division.  The Division focuses on drug and diagnostics development for neglected tropical diseases, in particular schistosomiasis, malaria and other fevers that are relevant to their diagnosis.

Jutta Reinhard-Rupp leads the Translational Innovation Platform Projects within Global Health and Claude Oeuvray, Head of Fundraising and Stakeholder Management is tasked with engaging with organisations who could fund Merck's NTD research. Claude recently joined from Medicine for Malaria Venture where he was head of Portfolio Management. Projects are run as public-private partnerships with additional funding from public or private donors.

Jutta and Claude are interested in identifying areas of common research interests and they are currently very active in translating research into health benefits for affected populations. Examples of their work can be seen at: http://www.merck-africa.com/en/responsibility/one_merck_for_children.html
