Film screening for World AIDS Day of "How to survive a plague"

  • When:  Sunday 1 December 2013 (World AIDS Day)
  • Time:  4 pm
  • Location:  The Cameo Picturehouse, Edinburgh

"How To Survive A Plague" is the Academy Award nominated documentary from David France, which chronicles the history of two pioneering coalitions—ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group)—whose activism and innovation turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition.  Despite having no scientific training, these self-made activists infiltrated the pharmaceutical industry and helped identify promising new drugs, moving them from experimental trials to patients in record time.  Their actions saved millions of lives and this is their story.

The screening will be followed by an insightful panel discussion with:

  • Roy Kilpatrick - ScotFreeHIV
  • Derek Ogg - QC founder of Scottish AIDS Monitor
  • Brian West - Chair of the European Aids Treatment Group
  • Mandy Floyd -  AIDS Activist & woman living with HIV
