ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum: Tell Them Our Stories

  • When:  Tuesday 12 February 2013
  • Time:  6.30 - 8 pm
  • Location:  Anatomy Lecture Theatre, University of Edinburgh

Behind many of the exhibits at the Surgeons' Hall Museum are touching human stories, of which only fragments may have been recorded. What family circumstances, hopes or desperation, caused the remains of the 'patients' to end up in the Collection?

Ann Lingard (novelist, scientist and former Visiting Research Fellow at the ESRC Genomics Forum), Andrew Connell (Collections Manager at the Surgeons' Hall Museum) and Diana Hendry (poet and Costa-shortlisted children's novelist) will tell some of these stories, fact and part-fiction, with readings from their works, illustrations, and thoughts about the present-day relevance of the exhibits.

Ann's work for Tell Them Our Stories can be read online at:
http://www.genomicsnetwork.ac.uk/forum/creativespace/creativewriting/tellthemourstoriesannlingard/

There will be a short drinks reception (20.00-21.00) after the event giving the audience a chance to chat with Ann, Andrew and Diana about the work. Spaces are limited so please register on the Eventbrite site ASAP to avoid disappointment.
